★ Stack Exchange.

Everyone who has ever searched for an answer for a computer-problem online, knows that finding the right answer can be quite hard (depending on the problem obviously). And chances are pretty big one of the search results took you to Expert's Exchange and you were disappointed by them because the answers were (are) behind a pay-wall.

Meet the Stack Exchange network. It's similar to Expert's Exchange, the only difference is that it's not evil. :)

What is Stack Exchange? (quoted from the above link)

Stack Exchange is a fast-growing network of 57 question and answer sites on diverse topics from software programming to cooking to photography and gaming. We are an expert knowledge exchange: a place where physics researchers can ask each other about quantum entanglement, computer programmers can ask about JavaScript date formats, and photographers can share knowledge about taking great pictures in the snow.

I had stumbled upon stackoverflow (the first website of the network) in the past but it wasn't untill I listened to Episode 38 of 5By5's The Pipeline podcast that I really discovered the entire Stack Exchange network. In the podcast, Jeff Atwood talks about why and how he started first stackoverflow and later the other websites (superuser, serverfault and a whole bunch more). definitely worth the listen, click the image bellow to go to the episode's webpage.

Pipeline thumb

Anyone can post a question, anyone can answer a question and other users can vote your answer up or down.

Which of these websites do I use?
- serverfault.com (for sys-admin questions and topics)
- superuser.com (for issues at work/personal computer issues)
- apple.stackexchange.com (obviously)
- productivity.stackexchange.com (to see if I can optimize my workflow a bit more, getting this done and all that)

The greatest part about the Stack Exchange network is that they have a framework to launch new websites quickly and a system in place to make sure that those websites actually 'work' (since all the content comes from the user, a solid userbase that is knowledgable on the subject at hand is key).

I love these websites and use them every day. Be sure to check it out.
