After the christmas & new year’s holiday, our coach at Crossfit Leuven decide to put together a healthy eating & living challenge in the month of January. Now, I’ve never really payed much attention to what I ate, let alone to eating a sufficient (or any) amount of fruits and vegetables. The only healthy nutrition habit I have is that I stopped drinking Coca Cola (and most other sodas) completely and switched to water (I was up to 4/5 cans per day at work so yeah).
So when Kennard put the 30 day challenge up on the board, I got curious. A couple of friends of mine had tried (and/or are still on) the Paleo diet and were reporting good results with it, why not give it a try right? We started on Sunday January 3rd with sort of a benchmark workout, we weighed and measured ourselves and we receive the programme for the next 4 weeks.
The focus for the next 4 weeks would be on:
As I’m writing this, we’re 3 weeks later and I’m doing good so far. Here are a couple of things I’ve learned/realised over the week:
It’s is not a diet, I’m just finally eating healthy.
In all seriousness, what’s this all good for? I’m feeling better, healthier. Getting up in the morning is easier, I’m more energetic, I’m not feeling bloated after dinner, I’m not falling asleep at my desk after lunch anymore (in a matter of speaking). I could go on but I’m not going to, you catch my drift.
Am I going to stick to eating like these 4 weeks are over? No, I don’t think so, not this strict anyway. But I am going to pay attention to what I eat from now. More fruit, more veggies, less crap. But I love pasta and pizza way to much to cut those out for good.
In short: eat healthy and train healthy. Take care for your body, you’ll need it from quite some time :)
